I drove by Persson's Nursery on Sierra Madre Blvd. yesterday and it appeared they were closing or had closed for good. Recent entries at their "yelp" page seems to confirm it:

Perrson's shutdown after owner Gary Butters died three months ago of pancreatic cancer. His wife is in a fight with So. Cal. Edison. It is unclear who locked the gate. Story here, http://mtnviewsnews.com/v05/htm/n32/p04.htm

Thanks for the information, Dean. I hadn't seen coverage of the Persson's Nursery closure in any other newspaper so I don't think we would have ever learned what really happened but for your article.
