By the way the name Sotomayor is possibly interesting - "Soto" means thicket and "mayor" means big. The Sotomayor Supreme Court nomination is a "big thicket" or a "sticky wicket" - difficult circumstance.
Whatever happened to the liberal notion of superior competence? (e.g., Thurgood Marshall).
